Named after Waterman S. Bodey when he
discovered some gold just North of Mono Lake
and In 1877, the Standard Company struck pay dirt
and a gold rush transformed Bodie from a town
of 20 people to a boomtown of 10,000 at it's peak !
Who knew a Signmaker that didn't have room
for the tail on the "y" in Bodey would change
the towns Name to Bodie forever?
